 FAQ

What happens during a sleep test?

On the evening of your sleep test, you will arrive at our facility at approximately 9pm, depending on your usual bedtime. You will bring in a completed questionnaire about your sleeping habits, which we mail to you before the night of your study. Our Registered Polysomnographic Technologist will prepare you for the evening, including placing sensors on your head in order to monitor you during your sleep. During the night, factors such as snoring, limb movement, body position, oxygen levels, heart rate, breathing, and sleep stages are monitored. You will spend the night in our comfortable facility until the test is completed. In the morning, you will answer a brief questionnaire regarding how you slept. For your convenience, breakfast is also served.

What are the accommodations?

Each patient receives a comfortable, private room with a full or queen-sized bed. Inside each room there is a television, reading table, chair, and bureau for your use. There is also a bathroom available.

When will my test results be ready?

Within 24 hours of completion of your sleep test, our Registered Polysomnographic Technologist will generate a technical report with the data collected during your sleep. A Sleep Medicine physician will interpret the report and develop a thorough medical report with treatment recommendations. This medical report will be presented to your referring physician within 72 hours of test completion.

How do I make an appointment?

Please call us at 714-979-2581 to set up an appointment for a sleep study. If you do not already have a prescription, we will be happy to refer you to a qualified physician who can give you a sleep consultation and determine your need for a diagnostic sleep test. After receiving a referral, we can schedule you for a sleep study without delay.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring sleepwear, toiletries, and a hand towel with you to your appointment. If you prefer, you may also bring your own pillow and reading materials to make yourself more comfortable. On the day of your study, please refrain from napping, wearing hair gel, and drinking caffeine after lunchtime.

Will my insurance cover sleep testing?

Most insurance plans cover sleep testing. We will be happy to verify your coverage and obtain any pre-certification or authorization required by your insurance carrier prior to your appointment.
